Lake Cave is the most 'actively dripping' cave in the South West and its pristine chamber is a visually spectacular crystal wonderland.
Marvel at the unique 'Suspended Table' formation, which weighs several tonnes and seems to defy gravity as it hovers above clear water.
Descend a 'staircase in time' and enter the cave at the base of a spectacular doline (sinkhole). During a guided tour you'll see delicate crystal decorations reflected in the water; with droplets hanging from the tips of straws and stalactites being a sign that these formations are growing. While seated at the back of the chamber, you can enjoy the unique 'underground ambience'. The guide will change the feature lighting within the cavern to provide unique views of the cave features and formations.
Fully guided tours run daily at limited numbers, please book ahead to ensure your place. There is moderate physical exertion required to enter this cave. You can make your way back up the staircase of the magnificent doline at your own pace.
Opening Hours
Please note that Lake Cave is currently closed.
Minors
An adult must accompany children under 17.
Can I take a tripod?
Tripods and selfie sticks are not allowed in the cave. This is to ensure the safety of all visitors and the preservation of the delicate cave decorations, as well as adhering to timing constraints.
What do I need to bring?
Since there are quite a few steps involved in most of the tours, comfortable enclosed shoes are recommended; however, you can still do the tours in thongs/flip flops/jandals if you feel you are able to.
Is there any lighting in the cave? Do I need a torch?
There is excellent lighting throughout the caves, and on guided tours, the guide will operate these as you move through the cave, as well as using a torch to highlight points of interest.
Did you know?
The Lake Cave Deck sits suspended over an extraordinary open cavern known as a doline. Set amongst the canopy of ancient karri trees and above the limestone cliffs of the doline, the deck is built from beautiful local timbers and features incredible glass portholes with views through to the forest floor below.
