Overview

Are your kids keen to Get Wet? Our kids only surf lessons are for little frothers who want to try their hand at shredding without those pesky adults killing their mojo.

These classes are for 6 to 12 year olds and they are run throughout school holidays. They run 3 mornings a week (and more often during peak times) and on Saturday mornings throughout the school terms. Kids only classes are run with an even lower coach-to-participant ratio of 4:1 to ensure maximum amounts of both safety and fun!

Lessons held at 10am every Saturday, more frequently during school holidays: Tuesday and
Thursday & Saturday, and even more regularly during peak periods approx. 1 hour 20 min of water time
Complimentary transport from Surfers Paradise to the best beach on the Gold Coast (we allow one parent to come in the shuttle but other seats must be reserved for other surfers)

Location

The Spit Beach, The Gold Coast’s favourite learn to surf beach, is approximately an 8 minute drive from the heart of Surfers Paradise and offers FREE all day parking for people with their own transport.

The closest public transport terminus is the Sea World bus stop (servicing the 704 bus from Helensvale train station via Southport and the 705 bus from Surfers Paradise). The Sea World bus stop is a comfortable 2.5 km walk to our head office.

Firstly I would like to say THANK YOU for the most awesome lesson. Total 5 STAR ***** My son Eli has attended lessons and has now progressed to squad lessons on a Sunday and after all this time I decided at 54 I need to experience what brings him so much happiness. So I did a lesson and now I get it ! The professionalism of the staff and the passion they have to everyone attending is so great to have been a part of. Everything is explained so well and I think we all came away feeling so proud of ourselves. I am left wanting more also. Thank you to all the team at Get Wet Surf

The best pressie for all the cousins! The 5 kids had an absolutely awesome day over the Easter holidays catching waves and hanging out. Thanks to the Get Wet Surf School @ The Spit for teaching the kids some new skills and making it fun. They slept well!

Great day learning to surf with 2 surf instructors. They had us as a group of 7 and easily had us all in the water taking turns. It was fun, they made sure we understood what to do. Nice explanations, easy to understand (I’m pretty uncoordinated but today I followed well, thanks to the instructors teaching). Easy to follow, welcoming and encouraging instructors. So much fun! You can’t control the weather, but we lucked out and it was a gorgeous day. Perfect surf for our first lessons with Emilio. Super friendly staff and they have everything you need. Just bring your towel and swimwear. Make sure to purchase/coordinate a pickup/dropoff beforehand if you’re staying at the hotels in Surfers Paradise.

Had a fantastic beginners lesson at Get Wet Surf school for 3 beginners. The lesson was informative, interactive and fun filled throughout. The team provided all the equipment including rash shirts and looked after our personal safety throughout teaching us about the dangers of surfing and the sea before we even engaged in the lesson. Total time in the water was between 50 minutes to 1 hour and was physical but incredibly rewarding. Billy and Sammy were fantastic instructors throughout, both hilarious, entertaining but diligent and helpful providing tips and encouragement especially when we started catching waves. Would highly recommend this as a class to anyone visiting the Gold Coast and Billy and Sammy for being fantastic hosts. Thanks again!!

The Intro to surf session is the prerequisite to our Beginner surf programs and we cover the following

Identify the parts of the surf board and equipment
Basic surf awareness
Recognize hazards in the surf such as rips
Learn the steps to standing on a board
Ride a broken wave in the white wash assisted by the instructor
How to fall off safely in the shallows

Cancellation Policy

As standard, 24 hours’ notice must be given for full refund ( excluding booking and credit card fees ), up to 12 hours prior partial refunds may be given depending on the nature of the cancellation, but this will be at the operators discretion and a 20% re-booking fee may apply if you re schedule.
For corporate/MICE or special private groups a deposit will be required upon invoicing, in the circumstances of a deposit being waived at the time of invoicing at the discretion of management, a $100 admin fee will be required if the booking is cancelled after the invoice is issued.
If it is deemed unsafe to proceed by the operator due to poor surf conditions at the scheduled time, we will offer an alternative booking time for you and if it is not possible due to travel commitments to reschedule a full refund ( excluding booking and credit card fees ), will be offered.
If you are not at the designated pick up location at the correct time or if you arrive for the lesson more than 10 min late the class will have commenced and you will not be able to attend and your fees with be forfeited.
