Overview

Imagine being able to hand feed Cownose Sting Rays on a privately escorted Aquarium tour!

This VIP experience shows you through the behind-the-scenes workings of the Cairns Aquarium with views and explanations of the fish food preparation room, innovative plant and equipment that filters the millions of litres of water on site, coral propagation facilities and a stop at the onsite turtle hospital to see how we care for and rehabilitate sick and injured sea turtles. You will also enjoy a scatter feed to the outback river monsters and hand feed the gentle Cownose rays. Marine life encounter includes admission to the Cairns Aquarium so you can experience the entire journey itself at-leisure.

You will be required to kneel down when you feed the ray

Do not touch the animals or the contents of their enclosure.
Children are the responsibility of their parents/guardians or carer and must be supervised at all times. Children cannot attend this tour without a guardian present.
Please tread carefully in this area, do not run in this area. There may be water present on floor.
Lifts, escalators and accessible toilets throughout the attraction.
If you are unable to walk onto the viewing deck for turtle hospital, you can still see the turtles in the tank through a viewing window.
Wheelchair or Pram is accessible for Self guided walk through however not for Behind the Scene Guided Tour due to the Nature of the tour.
Companion Cards are not accepted for this experience.

12:45 pm – Meet with one of our passionate wildlife educator’s
1:00pm – Handfeed the Cownose Sting Rays with the curatorial team
1:30pm – Behind the Scenes guided tour, feed the giant Freshwater species and visit the Cairns Turtle Hospital & Coral Conservation Tour
2:45pm – Tour concludes
