Overview

Commencing over the reef, we then cross back over the coast near double island and the resort township of Palm Cove before ascending the coastal rainforest clad mountains into the heart of the Barron Gorge National Park.

Enjoy a spectacular view of Cairns city as you take off towards the world’s largest coral reef system. Experience the sheer size and beauty of the Great Barrier Reef and gain a true appreciation of one of the seven natural wonders of the world.

Emerging from the canopy below you will see the Barron River and quaint rainforest village of Kuranda. Keep an eye out for the tracks of the historical Kuranda Scenic Rail and the gondolas of the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. From the top of the gorge we descend over the 250m rock face of the mighty Barron Falls which, while impressive year round, provides an awe-inspiring photo opportunity after heavy green-season rain (Dec-Apr).

We follow the Barron River for 5km as it snakes its way back down the gorge towards the ocean, providing hydro electricity to the city of Cairns and thrills for rafters riding on it’s rapids.

We decided to go on a trip after arriving in Cairns not realising the demand. The team at Nautilus did everything to accommodate us, even re-arranging bookings, pilots & craft so we could experience the Vlasoff Cay island touch down dependent on the regulations of the island being empty. Cairns turned on the perfect weather and the Nautilus Team put on the perfect experience. Pilot was friendly, good sense of humour, informative and respectful of all our requests down to taking some awesome 📸 of us as a group. Even detoured slightly so we could see the whale 🐋 and calf 🐳 we spotted. Best 80 mins ever and worth every cent. Hit the jackpot with beautiful sunshine, calm winds. Helicopters well equipped, clean and safe. Loved this, best ever birthday adventure.

The flight over the reef was amazing. Saw sting rays, manta rays, turtles and a shark. Craig the pilot was very informative with his knowledge of the area. I highly recommend it.

We were extremely lucky to have experienced this on the day we were there. The weather was not favourable in the morning however it did clear up. The communication with this company was brilliant. They kept in touch with us about the expectations of the day. The pilot was knowledgeable and friendly and the everything is explained so well for you to feel very safe and have a fantastic experience. To see the Great Barrier Reef from this view was like nothing else. Thank you to Nautilus Aviation. Highly recommended.

Absolutely amazing helicopter ride!!! Highly recommend doing this!!! John the helicopter pilot was so good and made this flight so fun!!! If your looking for something to do in Cairns it's a must and ask for John!!!!

One of the best experiences I’ve ever had!!! You cannot put a price on this outstanding trip. The day was absolutely perfect and the pilot was very knowledgeable and friendly. We forgot his name but he was such a great pilot. We were fortunate enough to land on the sandcay and have a beautiful picnic followed by snorkelling. The food in the picnic was absolutely awesome!!! We got given so much and it was delicious! The picturesque views were one of a kind and the snorkelling was fantastic. We got to see so much of the reef - it was the best!!! I would do this trip over and over again if I could. Thank you so much it was the best day ever!!! If I could give 10 stars I would.

FIT & GROUP Travel Policy:

To ensure smooth operations, passenger check in comfort & minimise delays, all 30, 45 & 60 minute Scenic Flight bookings up to 6 passengers (1 Helicopter) will continue to depart from the Pier Heliport while all bookings for 7+ passengers. (2+ Helicopters) will now depart from our General Aviation Airport location.

Cancellation Policy

Flight cancellations require a minimum notification of 48 hours prior to departure.
Cancellation notice of 48hours is required for a full refund claim and 24-48 hours, for a 50% refund claim.
No refund applies if booking is cancelled inside 24 hours
In the event of passenger illness, with medical certificate, Nautilus Aviation will reschedule the flight.
