Each year between May and November the subtropical waters of Australia’s east coast host 30,000 humpback whales on migration from Antarctica. They follow the path of the continental shelf which runs closest to the shoreline between Byron Bay and the Gold Coast, making this the prime location for us to witness the whales in their natural environment.
To swim with whales is undoubtedly a remarkable, intimate experience you won’t soon forget. Cooly Eco Adventures is the first operator on the Gold Coast to offer swimming with whales and it is our prime objective to give you that experience in a safe and environmentally conscious way.
We do everything we can to maximise your chance of swimming with whales but what you must understand is; we don’t swim with whales, the whales swim with us. While we guarantee whale sightings, we cannot guarantee your swim with them; the time they spend with us or the proximity they will come.
Cooly Eco Adventures uses the ‘soft in-water encounters’ approach which is a proven method to achieve a successful and sustainable whale swim.

a week agoFabulous, helpful, and accommodating tour guides. They were thorough in preparing travellers for the experience. The boat ride was fun, and we saw dolphins on the way to the island. While snorkeling, we saw a variety of fish and three large turtles.

a week agoWe went to do the swimming with turtles in Cook Island and we really had an amazing time. The quality of the snorkelling gear was really good and well maintained. I would recommend this company and this tour it to anyone!

a week agoA wonderful experience that exceeded all our expectations. The team were awesome they knew where the best snorkelling area to see the turtles…..and turtles we saw. I had the best fun and it was due to a professional team that knew their stuff. An absolute must do with Cooly Eco Adventures

5 months agoHighly, highly recommend a Swim with Turtles experience with the Cooly Eco Adventures crew. Lachie runs a professional outfit with excellent safety standards, quality equipment & a very clean craft. His knowledge of the local marine & bird life & his respect for the environment is next level & we felt in very safe hands on the boat. Cass was very informative whilst snorkelling in the water, pointing out different species of fish, turtles & other marine creatures. Excellent morning out for all topped off with numerous dolphin sightings! Will definitely be booking again soon.

a month agoFirst time snorkelling! Had a amazing experience with Cooly Eco Adventure. We went on the swim with turtles experience and got to see dolphins as well! The whole crew was very safe, professional and knowledgeable! Thank you for the pineapples and oranges! Nice little treat after swimming.
