If you're looking for a heart-healthy eating plan, the Mediterranean diet might be right for you. The Mediterranean diet blends the basics of healthy eating with the traditional flavours and cooking methods of the Mediterranean. You will learn to prepare traditional authentic dishes that you won't commonly find in a Greek restaurant. Instead, it is food that you would expect to eat in the kitchen of a Greek family home.
The Mediterranean Diet is a dietary pattern modelled on the eating habits of the Cretans in the 1950s. Nowadays, it is the most comprehensibly researched diet in the world, with evidence showing that it is incredibly beneficial for physical & mental health.
The Mediterranean Diet follows ten essential rules of eating. It not only looks at what we eat but how we eat. It rests on the premise that the fundamental act of eating brings people together, creates a sense of community, allows for discussion time, and provides enjoyment through the sense of taste. Hence, food forms an important part of the human experience. Food makes us feel; it evokes emotion and memories.
Greek food is about sharing food, passing down recipes taught from grandmothers and mothers, and ensuring the recipes are not forgotten. It also follows deeply seeded traditions that imply that one's home is a welcoming and hospitable environment that is open to all.

7 months agoWe've used Otao Kitchen for two work social events now - one making dumplings and the other a Vietnamese cooking class, and both were excellent. Great fun, high energy, inclusive, an the food that resulted was delicious.

9 months agoMy husband and I attended the Japanese cooking masterclass and it did not disappoint! It was interactive, educational and above all else fun! They were able to accommodate dietary requirements without any fuss and made sure we were taken care of without feeling left out. The food was delicious and would Definetly recommend to anyone wanting to try something new and learn to cook while having fun. Thank you Ha & team!

2 years agoOtao kitchen was a present I got for my partner and what a great night. A great variety and selection of cuisines to learn and try and well priced. We did the Vietnamese class and it lasted a good 3 hours. The chef was easy to follow, friendly and helpful. Ingredients were quality and the menu was amazing. We didn't leave hungry, had a good time and a good selection of drinks on offer too. Then even cater for intolerances. Recommended q visit here or three

a year agoOnce you have done one class, you are going to want to go back and do more. The instructors are lovely and you are in a no pressure environment. Everyone is different so if you finish early thats great, if it's later then that's okay too. The food you will make is not only pretty but damn tasty. Better yet, something you will want to go back again and make. So this isn't a one time deal, you will want to take what you have learned and show it off to your friends at a dinner party or make your family think you deserve a Michelin Star because your tastebuds are bedazzled. Seriously do yourself a favour and book a class. It's truly worth it.
