With over 20 year’s whale watching experience, we invite you to join us for a memorable adventure. As one of the pioneers of Whale Watching on the East Coast of Australia, our Gold Coast location allows Spirit of Gold Coast to enjoy the longest Whale Watching Season in Australia from June to early November each year. The Gold Coast is the best location for Whale Watching in Australia. This is due to the close proximity of Byron Bay being the most eastern point of the East Coast of Australia and so close to the Continental Shelf. The Humpback Whales always travel inside the Continental Shelf to protect themselves and their calves from the Orca, killer whale, one predator of the Humpbacks. Spirit of the Gold Coast’s main priority is not only to operate just as a tourist attraction, but to educate their guests and raise awareness of these magnificent creatures. Spirit actively supports Gold Coast Tourism, IFAW, Southern Cross University, and Sea Shepherd; and is a Member of Eco Tourism Australia.

4 months agoFantastic end to the year on the new years eve cruise. Food was great with plenty to go around. Great spot in the Broadwater to view the fireworks. Would definitely do again.

2 weeks agoTook my father to go whale watching in Aug 2022. Had an absolutely wonderful experience and got to see plenty of whales. My father said it was one of the most memorable activities of his trip to visit us from South Africa. Staff and captain were lovely, friendly, and so professional. We were in absolutely safe hands and had a wonderful time. If you are after an experience like this. Spirit of Gold Coast is the place to visit. Would absolutely be back again in a heartbeat.

7 months agoNothing but AMAZING. The staff were brilliant and mixed with the guests. The boat was great, with complementary tea and coffee. And the WHALES. The most mind blowing, amazing experience ever. Will be back. Best whale watching cruise I have done!

7 months agoComfortable vessel with very friendly staff. Grown from a small family business, they look after all your needs. Plenty of room to see the whales on board, no need to worry about 'getting the best spot'. The crew also have a wealth of knowledge and a true respect for the ocean and all things under the sea.

9 months agoMy best friend and I had the most amazing experience! We were very both excited, when boarding the ship. Staff were very welcoming and helpful, inviting us to tea and coffee. Throughout the journey, the crew was giving informative commentary about whales and their migration movements. It was quite some time that we waited impatiently for whales to appear. Occasionally we spotted some dolphins, and the blow of whales coming to the surface could occasionally be seen in the distance in places, but there were no really visible sightings for a long time. Finally towards the very end just when we were starting to think it wouldnt happen, we heard a loud commotion of the crowd on the deck cheering and shouting. We ran on to the deck to see that a whale had come right close to the ships. We saw them leaping in and out of the water! We all were awed as the whales put on a great show, and everyone was getting many great photos. We bought some hats and toys and also got some of the professional photos that were taken by the crew that were available for sale. All in all it was a great experience and well worth doing.
