Château Tanunda, birthplace of the Barossa, was established in 1890 and is the site of some of the Valley’s first vines planted as well as its first winery. The majestic bluestone winery and vineyards is a living testament to the colourful history and pioneering spirit of Australia’s most famous wine region.

a week agoWonderful experience! A must stop winery. Sharon was super lovely and knowledgeable. We showed us around and gave us a free sample of their 100yr old vine world winning best Shiraz…. There is a reason it is “the best in the world”. It is incredible! She went out of her way to be generous and accommodating. The winery itself is stunning, even just to look at, such a special experience!

3 months agoNice building and beautiful cellar door but our experience wasn’t the best. We pre booked the “Old vine expressions tasting experience” and the person who was serving us didn’t know much about their wines. We didn’t learn anything from it. The friendly cellar door team offered us some back vintages to taste after we asked a few questions, good wines but we expected a better experience with knowledge and understanding. The lady serving us gave us the tastings notes to read but I can do that at home. Hope you can train your team, especially if someone pay $50 per a wine tasting. Thanks for understand

4 months agoI arrived at 5pm. It was a bit late for tastings Evan though the fellow that served us did give us 2 tastings of Chardonnay & Semillon. They were very nice. $70 a bottle to buy. I felt like it was not a good idea being there. This was my first experience with wineries not being welcoming. I could have been a hot shot female.

3 months agoA terrific experience!!! We organised a birthday celebration at this awesome venue!! Jane and her team were absolutely amazing! They went above and beyond to make our party absolutely amazing. Every guest who came from interstate was blown away by the ambiance, the scenery and the quality of the wines! The sparkling red is to die for!!! Loved it! It’s been a month and the effect the venue had on us hasn’t worn off! Will definitely visit again! Thanks so much Jane and team!

2 months agoIf you’re only going to go to one winery in Barrosa, this is the one! They don’t call it Icon of the Barrosa for nothing. I’ve been to wineries throughout Napa and the central coast in California and in other states. I’d rank Chateau Tanunda right alongside the best of those. The grounds are beautiful and the wines were all very enjoyable. Larry took care of us during our tasting and did an exceptional job. He was personable and full of relevant information. Don’t miss this one!
