Begin the morning by flying over the town of Kalbarri, then along the majestic Coastal Cliffs that tower over Gantheume Bay, with the lovely red sedimentary rock colors. The coastal cliffs have been over 400 million years in the making and were once part of an ancient coral reef system.
Continue to the Abrolhos Islands. a chain of 122 islands and associated coral reefs in the Indian Ocean, approximately 65 kilometres off the west coast of Australia. It is the southernmost true coral reef in the Indian Ocean, one of the highest latitude reef systems in the world and one of the most important seabird breeding sites.
We land on East Wallabi Island, known for its beautiful coral and turquoise bays. From here enjoy a short walk to Turtle Bay where the morning is spent swimming and snorkelling in the protected waters of the coral reef.
On the return to Kalbarri fly over the breathtaking Abrolhos Islands coral atolls and the site of the historical Batavia shipwreck and the unique Hutt Lagoon Pink Lake near Port Gregory.
The lake contains a pink hue created by presence of carotenoid-producing algae Dunaliella salina, a source of ß-carotene, a food-colouring agent and source of vitamin A.
The Pink Lake is approximately 70 square kilometres with most of it lying a few metres below sea level and fed by marine waters through springs.
After circling the lake head back along the coastal cliffs and over the town to the Kalbarri airport.

2 months agoWe flew with our pilot Hayden on the Ultimate Discovery tour. It was easily the best experience of our time in Kalbarri. Amazing scenic flights to the Abrolhos Archipelago and back, beautiful snorkelling and food on East Wallabi Island, but it was our interaction with a female sea lion while snorkelling, and the flight home over the Pink Lake and Kalbarri Inland Gorges that almost brought tears to my eyes. A truly unforgettable experience.

8 months agoHayden and Lachlan were great pilots and guides for our scenic flight to the Abrholos in Sep 2023. We took off from Kalbarri at about 1pm, and while flying to the Abrholos saw numerous whales. On East Wallaby Island, we had tea, coffee and a snack box with tasty charcuterie under the shade of recently built huts at the waterfront, while hearing the story of the Batavia. We then went for a snorkel at the reef, where we saw beautiful corals and colourful fish. Snorkeling equipment was provided (fins, mask and snorkel) and there are bathroom facilities to change in. To finish off our time on the island, we went for a walk and spotted several wallabies and saw both an old and current Osprey nest. On our return flight, we flew over other islands including the main crayfisherman huts and we saw the reef scar from the Batavia crash. We flew along the coast towards the end of the flight, and because of the timing of our flight, saw the sun setting over the ocean which was spectacular. We were both surprised that we didn’t get as motion sick as expected, we suffer quite badly, but did take Kwells. The plane is small (we were in a 4-seat plane) but the landings were actually smoother than larger planes. We would 100% recommend this tour.

a year agoWe travelled to Abrolhos Islands in May 2023. We were the only two on tour. Lachlan was our pilot and guide and was excellent at both. We were given informative commentary during both flights and Lachlan was willing to answer any questions we had. The flight was smooth and the tour was wonderful. We cannot thank Lachlan enough for taking us on such a wonderful tour. I thoroughly recomend this tour and tour company.

a month agoWe did theAbrolhos Island Discovery Full Day Tour with Pink Lake add-on from Kalbarri on Sunday 7 th April. we have been travelling around Australia for 12 months this would be number 2 on the list of the best things we have done. The Abrolhos Islands are amazing and they have amazing history. Thanks firstly to Edmund who changed things around so we could go, we had a small plane to ourselves as they put on an extra plane. The two pilots Cory and Daniel were so knowledgeable about the area and so friendly and down to earth, they made our day. The snorkelling was different to the Great Barrier Reef but amazing in its own right, the turquoise water is so beautiful. The pink lake is incredible from above, so many different shades of pink. Thoroughly recommend this tour if you are visiting Kalbarri it is worth every cent.
