Overview

Our Circumnavigation cruise around the Island is a totally immersive and educational experience.

The east coast of Maria Island showcases world class geology, mountain fed waterfalls, secluded bays, sea caves and beaches of pure white sand. Enjoy expert commentary from our professional scientist crew as you cruise to the renowned Riedle Bay and Shoal Bay at Maria Island's isthmus for a lunch stop on anchor.

These stunning beaches are nearly identical to the world-famous Wineglass Bay and are only visited by a handful of people each year. En route around Maria Island we stop to showcase many famous landmarks including the Fossil Cliffs and Painted Cliffs.

What's included?

Your tour will depart from the Triabunna marina (approximately 1-hour and 15-minutes from Hobart), and includes a hotel bus pickup,
In the afternoon, both tours will dock at Darlington. The perfect way to compliment your cruise is to stretch your legs and enjoy a guided tour through Darlington’s fascinating collection of preserved convict buildings, learn about the town’s remarkable history and come face to face with Maria Island’s resident wombats.
If history is not for you, then simply soak up the sun on Darlington’s white sandy beach or swim/snorkel in the waters of Maria Island’s marine reserve.
Lunch is provided on the tour from our cafe as a large healthy salad bowl. A variety of salad lunch options include; chicken breast coated in pesto aioli, smoked salmon, roast beef, leg ham or vegetarian/veg
A large selection of cakes are provided for morning tea from our cafe as well as complimentary water, tea, coffee, orange juice, soda water and soft drinks!
Our tours are licensed to provide alcoholic drinks with lunch. A complimentary serve of wine or beer is provided with your lunch.

Location

Check-in will occur at the cafe from 8:30am, after which we will make our way to board our tour boat at 9am.

We had an excellent one day cruise to Maria Island and Ile des Phoques with Mike Davis from East Coast Cruises. On a beautiful calm day we saw dolphins jumping by the boat, saw the inside of some beautiful sea caves, with impressive seamanship from Mike, and lots of seals on land and in the water. On Maria Island there was a lot of wildlife wandering about as well as an interesting historical site. The guides looked after us really well on the boat, the food was delicious, and we appreciated the range of provision of complimentary drinks. Would thoroughly recommend this for a special day out.

Four of us went on the Island of Seals and Maria Island cruise today. We all had a fabulous day with Michael and Rachel. The weather was kind to us and we spent a marvelous time gradually getting nearer to the many seals on the rocks and in the ocean. Our time on the northern end of Maria Island included entering caves with differing layers of colors in the rocks, watching seals frolic around us, seeing the fossil limestone area. It was followed by an excellent guided walk around historic Darlington with Rachel. The day finished with a view of the painted rocks. The food was also fresh and appropriate for this type of tour and the experience and expertise of Michael & Rachel made for an altogether memorable day.

Maria Island is a remarkable place and it only reveals itself fully if you get to see it from the water. The cruise was fabulous with a trip to look at a seal colony and the amazing rock formations. Meals and drinks provided where great and the staff could not be more helpful with knowledge of the island. Highly recommend this to people who want to visit Maria.

Absolutely 1000/10!!! We loved having Michael and his crew take us on a once in a lifetime journey! Out of our entire time in Tasmania with multiple tours etc, this was our favourite and most memorable! 💛💛

If the tour date is not available, our Ile Des Phoques / Maria Island day tour will be offered.
We have scheduled the tours to alternate between the two cruises over the calendar days of summer.
Due to the high operational costs of our tours, we do require a minimum of 6 adult passengers for each tour. We are always hopeful that we will reach this requirement on every tour, however if we have not yet met the requirement within 48hrs days of the tour date, we will contact you to discuss the flexibility and options of moving to a different day.
Our tours are PERFECT for children! We have provided concessions for children between 2yo - 15yo and families (2A + 2Ch). Infants under 2yo travel for free. Children 16yo and older can be declared as students and are available to use the concession rate.

Cancellation Policy

If you would like to cancel your booking, you are welcome to do so. Please let us know before the day of the tour. We are very reasonable in providing refunds to customers, we simply ask that you notify us within 24hrs.
We do not accept cancellations on the day but will provide a voucher for 50% of the cost of your booking for you to redeem at a later date.
We only cancel tours if strong wind and swell prevent us from safely and comfortably cruising around Maria Island. If you wake up to rain on the day of your tour, please note that unless conditions on the water are rough, we will still be cruising and will not accept cancellations on the day because of rainy or overcast conditions.

How to redeem

Your voucher(s) and booking information will be included in the confirmation email you will receive shortly after purchasing the experience on Amazed.com.

If the booking needs to be first confirmed by the host, you will receive your Amazed voucher within 24-48 hours of purchase.
