We fly from the middle of April till the end of October when the weather is most suitable for flights in this area. It is not only cool weather but also the time of the year when the winds are best for this activity.

We fly at dawn, so we meet an hour before the first light to have us all in the air and ready to greet those first morning rays, which is also the safest moment of the day to go ballooning. Meeting times vary throughout the season because we follow the sun. Towards the beginning and end of our flight months, we meet as early as 04:00 am and in winter as late as 06:00 am at Dome Cafe, inside the Farmers Home Hotel, in Northam (Avon Valley).

From our meeting point The Farmers Home Hotel in the township of Northam, you will jump into our vehicles and we will drive you to our launch site; this varies depending on the wind direction on the day of your flight. We cover the whole valley but on different flights what we assure you is that your pilot will seek to give you the best experience the morning can offer.

Once on the field it will take about half an hour to set the balloon up and everyone is welcome to participate in simple tasks to help get the balloon ready. When the balloon is inflated and with everyone onboard, there will be a short safety briefing and up we go, to float in the morning breeze for about one hour. 

After approximately 1 hour’s flight the pilot will choose an appropriate landing field to set down.

Cancellations due to weather conditions: If a flight has been cancelled by the operator due to weather conditions the passenger is entitled to re-book at no extra charge for a period of 12 months. If the passenger has booked to fly three times or more during this 12 month period, LBF will endeavour to honour the booking for a further 6 to 12 months, depending on location.

Alterations/Rescheduling and Cancellations to a Booking: Should you need to reschedule or cancel your booking, certain fees may apply. Liberty Balloon Flights should be notified by telephone or email of any cancellation requests.

• More than 7 days ​before the flight departure - a flight may be rescheduled without fees. A cancellation fee of $50 per ticket will apply before any amount is refunded.
  
• Between 48 hours and 7 days​ before the flight departure – a reschedule fee of $50 per person will apply to any flight rescheduled. Bookings cancelled within 7 days of a flight departure cannot be refunded.
  
• Within 48 hours​ of the flight departure – No changes or refunds are permitted. We recommend that passengers arrange their own insurance provisions in case of unforeseen circumstances including being unable to fly due to illness.
  
• No Show - ​Under no circumstances will flights be refunded or rescheduled if passengers cancel or do not turn up on the morning of the scheduled flight. You will not be eligible for any refund in part or in full and may not reschedule your booking to another date. You may send someone else in your place if you wish – we must be notified of this replacement prior to the flight date.
