Wildlife Tours in Melbourne

Witness majestic Aussie wildlife while taking in the sights of St Kilda Beach, Phillip Island, Healesville and more. Amazed’s Melbourne animal experiences are ideal for families, couples and solo visitors. Take the journey down to Phillip Island and see the famed penguin parade or journey off to Healesville Animal Sanctuary. From the bush to the beach, every animal experience we curate is designed to create amazing memories that last a lifetime and spotlight animals in their natural habitats!

St Kilda Penguins

Get up close with adorable fairy penguins! For an unmissable wildlife experience in Melbourne, Amazed has all-inclusive day packages starting from $99 for students and $109 for regular adults. Get a chance to meet some of St Kilda’s famed feathered locals before enjoying Fish and Chips on the beach. This tour covers Port Melbourne, Albert Park and St Kilda and includes a scenic bike ride to ferry you from spot to spot.

Phillip Island Penguin Parade

It’s time to pack your day bag, hit the road with a small group and take the scenic drive down to Phillip Island. Get up close with the native wildlife (and yes, the penguins) and take in the ambience of this special spot, less than a two-hour drive from Melbourne. This experience includes a stop at Cape Woolamai, where you’ll lace up your boots and hike through the rugged rock formations known as the Pinnacles. Witness stunning views over the Bass Strait and look out for wallabies, echidnas, shearwater birds and whales in the winter months. You’ll then head to the Phillip Island Koala Reserve to see Australia’s favourite cuddly native animal. The tour draws to a close with a big finish: an up-close look at hundreds (sometimes thousands) of penguins as they emerge from the surf at sunset at the world-famous Penguin Parade. It’s an Aussie wildlife spectacular!

What Seasons Do Phillip Island Penguins Come Ashore?

The good news is, the penguins at Phillip Island come out at sunset all year round, regardless of the weather or season. Nevertheless, Phillip Island has a temperate climate, with very cold winters and warm, mild summers. Therefore, we recommend choosing a warmer time of year to visit the Penguin Parade to avoid the cold winds or strong rain in the winter.
