This tasting session caters for visitors who don’t have time for the full one-hour tour, or want to try our products before purchase.
In our distillery and gourmet kitchen, we utilise local produce such as sugarcane, mangoes, and our own home-grown limes to create authentic flavours in signature hand crafted spirits and condiments.
The award winning rum spirit isn’t sweetened, caramelised or adulterated in any way except to be proofed and barrel-aged prior to bottling. We take pride in our hands-on approach when crafting small batch rums and liqueurs.
Our products are distinctive and unquestionably ours and it’s our ability to produce pure syrup that makes every drop simply delicious.
During your 15 minute tasting session you will experience our range of rums and liqueurs and our non-alcoholic ginger beer, that are distilled and crafted onsite in our boutique micro distillery, along with our tantalising range of Chefs’ Gusto gourmet sauces and condiments.
Sarina Sugar Shed is situated just off the Bruce Highway, 37 km south of Mackay and 307km north of Rockhampton.

a week agoWe had the most enjoyable day at the Sarina sugar shed. We did the sugar and rum tour. We were well educated in the history of the early cane sugar production up to the current day processes and uses of the bi products of cane sugar. As it is an inter active tour the staff were brilliant and engaged well with everyone, with so much fun and laughter 😃 We thoroughly enjoyed tasting all the alcohol and liquor samples as well as the sauces and relishes. The tour finished with freshly spun fairy floss. We then stayed on to enjoy a beautiful cheese and fruit platter. 😋😍😀

7 months agoVery informative tour with lots of tastings. Good cafe and shop. Easy parking next to the information centre and art gallery. It has a scaled down version of the machinery that is used in the full sized sugar mill directly behind it. The picture is of the actual working mill behind.

a year agoWow 🤩 we did both sugar and rum tour, and it did not disappoint! Tour guides were full of information and was unbelievable what the process was for sugar cane. Don’t want to give too much away, but if your a local and haven’t done this yet or passing through I highly recommend. Glad we got a platter needed to soak up the taste testing. If your a relish fan, you must try their variety’s. Staff were lovely and very knowledgeable. A must see!!!

a week agoIf you always wanted to know what they do with all that sugar cane that's growing everywhere in Queensland - this is the place for you. Access is by guided tour. Our guide was a former sugar mill worker and knew her stuff. She told us about the sugar cane plant, how it is grown and harvested, the machinery used, and finally demonstrated the various steps of processing raw cane into sugar and its by products. You get to taste the raw juice, syrup, molasses etc. The tour takes about an hour and is time well spent. There is also a cafe on site, and a shop selling their liqueurs, chutneys, sauces etc.
