Every year, between June and November, humpback whales migrate north from their breeding grounds in Antarctica to the warm waters off the coast of Queensland. The Gold Coast is one of the best places in Australia to see these magnificent creatures as they make their journey.
The Whale Highway is a stretch of water that runs along the east coast of Australia, from Queensland to New South Wales. It is named after the humpback whales that migrate along this route each year. The highway is also home to other marine life such as charismatic dolphins, turtles, rays and resident and migratory seabirds. 6 months agoI recently went on a Gold Coast Whale Watching Cruise, and there were both positive and disappointing aspects of the experience. The boat itself was new, which was a pleasant surprise, as it provided a comfortable and modern setting for the trip. The operator was also very friendly and accommodating, making us feel welcome from the start. However, the main purpose of the cruise, the whale watching, left much to be desired. We did spot a whale, but it was at quite a distance, and we couldn't get a close-up view. This was disappointing as we were hoping for a more immersive experience. Despite this, I'm not giving up on whale watching altogether. I plan to try again at the Sunshine Coast in hopes of a more rewarding encounter with these majestic creatures. Overall, while the cruise had its positives, the limited whale sightings left room for improvement.

8 months agoWe had a great day out on the water with Kokomo Cruises, travelling the humpback highway and seeing these magnificent creatures in the wild. Booking process was simple, the boat was brand new and comfortable. We preferred going on the smaller boat with great views and closer to the water. Loved the price point and the fact that it was an option for a 2.5hr cruise rather than more expensive, full or half day cruises with other companies. We had a great time and would recommend this experience to others. Thanks!

a month agoHighly recommend Kokomo cruises for your next event! We decided to have my sisters 21st with them. It was an amazing way to bring a group of people together and a memorable way to celebrate an event. The staff are so accommodating and friendly, really went out of their way to ensure everyone had a great time. The boat was very spacious with lots of seating and space for food / drinks. The cruise it’s self was absolutely stunning, cruising through the Gold Coast canals watching a sunset was picturesque. To finish the night we all then had a little boogie on the dance floor! I will definitely be hosting more event with Kokomo cruises - so much fun! Thank you for such a great time!

8 months agoMy family had the BEST experience whale watching with Kokomo cruises last Wednesday morning. The boat was small therefore we weren’t tripping over people to get a look and were up close and personal with the whales. We were lucky enough to see a young humpback whale breaching. The crew were amazing and super informative. An experience that will live with my family forever. Thank you so much ❤️
