  • Overview

Embark on the perfect half-day trip to experience the West Coast of Fraser Island. Enjoy the day on your own terms - swimming, kayaking, snorkelling, fishing and relaxing.

Enjoy the spectacular pristine water ways between K'gari (Fraser Island) and the mainland while looking out for dolphins, turtles, dugongs, fish and bird life during the 45 min - 1 hour cruise out to our destination.

Once anchored at our destination, we take you ashore via our RIB (rigid inflatable boat) where you have 2 hours on the island to participate in whatever activity you like, or simply take the time to relax and enjoy the remote beach.

Then hop back aboard the boat, rinse off in the fresh water shower and get ready for a delicious Aussie BBQ lunch. We'll cruise back slowly to the marina whilst eating lunch and listening to interesting commentary about the Island and its history.

  • What's included?
    • Expert commentary on marine life and local Aboriginal history
    • 2 hours of free time on the beach
    • Use of ALL beach equipment: Kayaks, Snorkelling gear, fishing gear, beach activities (beach cricket, frisbees, balls, sandcastle building equipment) and rides on an inflatable tube.
    • Wetsuits available (if desired)
  • Location

    • We offer complimentary pick up from local accommodation in the Hervey Bay area.
    • Going ashore at Fraser Island may be substituted for Pelican Bank; or both destinations may be provided on the one day. This depends on tides and weather conditions. We want guests to have the best experience and both areas can offer great beach and water activity options.

A fantastic experience. Weather was perfect and they lived up to their promise of "100% you will see whales". We saw several pods. But we spent at least an hour being entertained by a pod of 5 swimming around, beside and under the boat on multiple occasions. They seemed to be having as much fun as we were! The staff were friendly and most helpful, from the lovely girl who took our booking to the crew on board the vessel. The boat was spotless with plenty of room to move around, the captain's commentary was very informative about the whales, and food was freshly prepared, yummy and plentiful. We did the morning cruise and now plan to return to do the afternoon/sunset dinner cruise at some time. All in all, a memory to last a life a lifetime.

We had a wonderful day with Whalesong Cruises going to K’gari/Fraser Island. The staff were fantastic and made it a memorable day for all. The water is so lovely to swim in, and the beach spot at K’gari was beautiful and unspoiled. We all enjoyed the water activities. I got some beautiful photographs of the natural landscape including a white-bellied sea eagle and we also saw a large turtle swimming. Lovely morning tea and lunch. Can’t wait to do the whale watching tour next.

Great experience. All the staff were great, the way they worked together and ran the meal times was very impressive. The captains knowledge was great and the talks very interesting. It was amazing to see the whales with their calves and the amount of different behaviors they do. We were worried about cruising with many people, we did our research and saw the boat size and capacity limit for Whalesong. When we were onboard the captain and staff experience around managing people was very kind and calm. Whales were visible from both sides of the boat and boarding was easy. This means we didn't miss out, we had a calm and happy time and could just enjoy the experience. Highly recommend.

Our excellent day out started with being collected from our accommodation , followed by a quick easy boarding process. The Captain of the “Whalesong “ came down to let everyone know about the weather forecast, enabling some to come back for the afternoon cruise. A very nice morning tea was served as the boat made its way to the best whale viewing sites. After about half an hour of cruising , we came across a whale encounter to be remembered. Two frisky young males competing for the attention of a larger female! Several more interactions followed until we came upon 3 young males who became curiouser and curiouser! We were all fascinated to watch them checking us out! As we neared the end of our cruise, a healthy, satisfying lunch was served, before more whales were observed, bringing our total to 17!. The weather stayed fine, wind dropped and the watered calmed. Another beautiful day in paradise! This outing with Windsong Cruises is great value for money, the crew were caring and knowledgeable and the boat was very clean, modern and safe. We would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a memorable encounter with humpback whales!
