a year agoGreat little tea room hidden away in the middle of Brisbane city. The vibe is very retro in the cutest way. We went one weekend for their high tea as that's what they're known for and it was a great experience. There's a nice range of sweet and savoury snacks which were all decent but nothing really stood out. The service was average, a little slow but not terrible. Overall it was a fun experience and I would definitely recommend giving it a go.

9 months agoIf I could rate our experience 0 stars I would. We had a friend’s baby shower at the establishment and we left with a bad taste in our mouths. The manager and supervisor were rude and condescending to myself and the team setting up the back drop. The whole encounter prior to the even was incredibly distasteful and made me uncomfortable during the whole event. Furthermore, they told me that our table will need to be “mindful” of the other table booking in the same room. The table booking that shared the room with us were noisy so I don’t believe they received the same speech from the manager Vicky. The tea was closer to room temperature when it was served but the house champagne was good. The food was nice but for $45 per person it was definitely not worth it- we calculated that it was around 6 pieces of food (mini sandwiches, tarts, scones) each. When we tried to have the cake cut they told us that we needed to inform them in advance and that they wouldn’t be able to cut it but we can do it ourselves, then proceeded to say that they will charge us $2 pp for us to cut our own cake. ABSURD! This was also at 2:30pm when there were no other customers in house so it was definitely possible to offer such a simple service, especially to a table of 20 who is spending a considerable amount. When leaving they tried to overcharge us by charging $50pp but their website states the package was $45, in the end they did agree to the website price. When the mother-to-be expressed her disappointment all that was said was “sorry” by a server whilst the supervisor stood there and did not offer any compassion or compensation. It is safe to say that myself and everyone at the baby shower will not be going back to the Room with Roses ever again.

a month agoSaw this on social media and thought we'd give it a go for lunch. The novelty is nice as the arcade had its Christmas decorations up but it's not somewhere I'd go again. We had the club sandwich and scones but both were not very nice. Staff were friendly but they don't seem to have enough wait staff or suitable back of house processes to deal with more than a few people. I'm probably being a bit critical on something that has been an established old tea house for many years but it's such a lovely and quaint place with great potential. Hope it levels up soon and I'd definitely take advantage of it's private location.

2 weeks agoGreat atmosphere, high quality food; pleasant well-trained staff. Although they are usually busy they will try hard to fit you in if you haven't booked. Last time I went a woman collapsed and the staff moved very quickly and quietly to help, call ambulance, keep calm, make a clearway around her and protect her privacy and dignity. They keep their staff too, which tells me that it's probably a good place to work.

3 months agoI knew this would be the perfect venue for a long catch up with an overseas friend who I had never met in person. Room with Roses did not disappoint. Friendly service. Great choice of food. And they were happy to go with our pacing - coffee first, then lunch, then tea. They were attentive without pushing. And very tactfully brought us the bill when it was getting close to closing time, which we had not realised. A delightful 4 hours all around. Thank you.
