This is the Kangaroo Point Sunset Abseil – a unique and unforgettable experience. Join us for a challenging and atmospheric evening in one of Brisbane’s most iconic locations.
You Approach The Edge Of The Cliff, Nervous But Excited. The Rope Takes Your Weight, It’S Strength Reassuring. Below You, The Proud Ramparts Of The Kangaroo Point Cliffs Plunge Some 20 Metres To The Banks Of The Brisbane River. The Sun Dips Low In The West, The Sky Darkens, And The Lights Of The City Twinkle Into Existence One By One. Your Pulse Quickens As You Step Over The Edge, Descending With The Help And Encouragement Of Your Pinnacle Sports Guide.
All you’ll need is a water bottle, appropriate clothing, and enclosed shoes for getting around the cliffs (and a camera couldn’t hurt!)
Session Times:
The timing is seasonal, please check start and finish times based on the calendar availability
The session runs for 2 hours, from 4:30pm - 6:30pm (September to April)
The session runs for 2 hours from 3:30pm - 5:30pm (May to August)
Safety Restrictions
Due to the nature of this activity it is not suitable for participants with any of the following medical conditions to participate:
No-shows forfeit their payment and no re-booking/refunds will be given.
If you are late to an activity, you may be permitted to participate, provided that the instructor is satisfied it will not impact the safety of the group or impose unreasonable delays. If the instructor does not allow you to participate due to lateness, you will be treated as a no-show.
Any cancellations after the participant has been sent their course materials are only eligible for an 80% refund, in recognition of the time and resources spent preparing these materials.
Cancellations made less than 72 hours before the course commences will not be eligible for a refund, in recognition of the extremely low likelihood that we would be able to fill your spot.
If you need to cancel after receiving your course materials and/or within the 72 hours prior to the course commencing, you may be able to donate your spot to someone else, provided that: (a) they meet the pre-requisites for course participation and (b) they are able to complete the pre-course paperwork - including exams - in time. You will need to contact the Pinnacle Sports office directly to organise this. If these requirements are not met, you will be treated as a no-show.
Pinnacle Spots reserves the right to cancel any course for any reason, including but not limited to:venue closures, illness of the tour operator, pandemic events, and other diseases declared to be quarantinable diseases. If Pinnacle Sports cancels a course of its own initiative, participants will be issued with a credit for the value of the course and offered the chance to re-book at a later date.

a year agoWe recently did the 'Sunset Abseil' with Sally at Kangaroo Point. It was a new experience for me and I'd definitely go back for more. Sally was very helpful in showing me the correct techniques and by the third time, I was cruising down the rock or so I thought. The location and lighting was a beautiful addition. We loved watching the city turn from day into night. I'd definitely recommend for those who like a little bit of spice :)

a month agoI recently attended the sport lead course with Pinnacle, the course was awesome, all training is aligned PACI standards, and I now feel confident I have the skills to do sport routes outdoors without hurting myself (or someone else). My instructor Peta was a wealth of knowledge and gave clear concise instructions. I always felt safe during the conduct of the course.

5 months agoMy wife Lauren and I just did the sunset abseil at Kangaroo Point. We were lucky enough to be guided by the lovely instructor Jess, who we had all to ourselves. The small numbers meant that we were able to go down 4 times each. What a lovely view it is, we especially loved our final abseil which was done when the sun had set and the rock was lit up by spotlights. Jess was very calm and patient and helped us to feel less anxious. We are both keen to do the longer day climb on Mt Ngungun as soon as we can. Thank you
