The Top Didj Cultural Experience is a two to two and a half hour activity that is available for 2 sessions per day. Visitors can interact with Top End Aboriginal artist Manuel Pamkal and ask questions about aboriginal culture whilst being educated on the significance of his painting style, weapons used and how he lived off the land.
The highlight of the Cultural Experience and what sets it apart from other indigenous cultural experiences, is the painting style which is demonstrated by an aboriginal artist.

8 months agoWe had the most amazing experience at Top Didj, an absolute highlight of our entire trip. Manuel was an amazing storyteller, animated and engaging, and his stories had us enthralled. He was patient as we painted and made fire, and graciously kind, especially with the children, as we attempted to spear throw. His generosity in sharing his culture and his own childhood was incredible. We learned so much and enjoyed every minute of it (excellent for the kids!). The other staff were supportive and let Manuel lead the experience. I would absolutely recommend this experience to everyone, it exceeded my expectations and was the best time spent on our 3 month trip.

9 months agoBest cultural activity in Katherine! Top Didj run a fantastic cultural session including stories, fire making, spear throwing and art. Fantastic for kids 4+ up to adults, very enjoyable for the parents too. Little kids also have a toy area if they get bored by the activities. Sensational experience, highly educational and authentic.

10 months agoManuel is a great story teller. We enjoyed learning about Manuel's culture, his early life and language as well as his painting style. Highlights for us were watching Manuel playing the didj, painting our own cross-hatch pictures and discovering that our ten year old is brilliant with a spear. Selina and Don were lovely too. Well worth the drive out of Darwin. We stayed at nearby Gorgeview and were coincidentally treated to a very special Didj performance by Manuel at our accommodation that evening (he was performing at a friend's birthday party). Highly recommend - 10/10 👌

8 months agoManual, Nathan & the team were excellent, a fun morning with great story telling and instructing for art & spear-throwing. My favorite was the fire making, I was even chosen to go again to light the fire! X

2 years agoFirst came to check on the gallery on Tuesday and buy a few paintings, I was told there was enough people to run the cultural experience the next day. I really don't regret doing that cultural experience, it was absolutely 👏 Learning about aboriginal culture was great but trying to paint was next level. Hadn't been painting since college 😊 not to mention the last bit of the experience to try and hit the kangaroo, that was much fun 👍 There's heaps of paintings, it was actually hard to pick just one: many different sizes and prices. Plus staff are very friendly and welcoming 🙏 I would give a 10 out of 5
