Experience the breathtaking feeling of floating silently above the Outback as the sun slowly rises over the desert on this awe-inspiring ballooning adventure.

Journey to the launch site in the cool pre dawn darkness and begin the ascent just as the morning light begins to illuminate the rugged MacDonnell Ranges. Float gently across the vast expanse of the Central Australian outback – keeping an eye out for native wildlife including the iconic red kangaroo and gain an appreciation of the remoteness of the area as the balloon glides across the landscape.

After landing, you may become involved in assisting the crew as they pack the nylon balloon away or you may prefer to take photographs, the choice is yours.

At the ballooning landing site, there is time to enjoy the desert tranquility as light refreshments accompanied by sparkling wine and tropical fruit juice are served. There is an opportunity to purchase ballooning souvenirs and a commemorative flight certificate is given to all participants.

Flight distance will typically be between 10 and 20 kilometres. The balloon flight takes place approximately 15 kilometres to the south of Alice Springs adjacent to the MacDonnell Ranges and over the historic Owen Springs Cattle Station.

NOTE: Children 3-5 years are not recommended but considered on an individual basis.

Location

Meeting Us at Alice Springs Complimentary transfers to and from your accommodation included with every flight. Private addresses and rural properties may not be included in our pickup schedule. If this occurs, we will advise you of the best meeting location.
Pick up time is approximately 1 hour before first light – time will be given when booking and exact time will be confirmed when you re-confirm the day prior to flight booked. Transfers (at the end of tour) to the airport or other tours are available on request.

Depending on many operational factors, which vary each day, passengers may be on the ground or in the balloon when the sun is actually coming over the horizon or rising, either way you will still see an amazing dawn.
We do not operate on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.
Whilst there are no weight restrictions as such, passengers must be able to climb up and into the basket that is approximately 1.2 metres in height unaided using the basket foot holes which act like a ladder. You will need to be able to swing your legs over and hop in to a small compartment that is approximately 60 cm wide. Compartments will accommodate from 2-6 people side by side depending on the size of the basket and the number of people booked for that day. We do require the weight of every passenger when booking and anyone over 110kg will receive an additional safety requirements email from our office.
It is dusty in the Outback. Outdoor clothing (preferably not white if you want it to stay that way), long pants and hat or cap are recommended. Enclosed flat heel shoes are essential. It is no colder in the balloon than on the ground but it can be cooler before sunrise. Warm clothing may be necessary from approximately May to September. Loose items such as dangling jewellery and scarves are not permitted once passengers reach the launch site and dis-embark from the bus.

Online Check-in and Waiver
Each participant will be required to complete an online check-in and waiver prior to joining our balloon flight tour. There is nothing to print. This is a web-based program. The information will be released directly to the clients by SMS or email, two days prior to the balloon flight date. Please ensure we are provided with a phone number or email address that the clients can access in the days leading up to the balloon flight tour.

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel within 24 hours of departure, do not show up on the morning of the tour or suffer “cold feet” on the launch field you will not be given a refund or your credit card will be charged if you have not paid. If you have to cancel last minute to COVID19 restrictions, please contact us immediately as we can offer flexibility in that instance.
