  • Overview
Hunts are only available during winter, but there’s nothing quite like the serenity of a crisp winter’s day following the experienced truffle dogs in their quest to find the black winter truffle, their excitement for the hunt and their reward when they find a truffle is a unique sight.

Your guide will explain everything you want to know about truffles, the farm and how we started. Truffles can be mysterious and aloof, hiding snugly underground. So when the truffle dogs, Barry, Roxy & JJ, indicate there is a truffle from the odour they are trained to detect, we will venture to the location and, like archaeologists, we gently dig into the ground, tracking the aroma in the soil until we find our black diamond. The illustrious black truffle!
  • What's included?
    • Approx 1-hour of truffle hunting
    • Variety of truffle tastings from savoury to sweet
    • Participate in digging up the truffles (limited numbers per session)
    • Interact with the dogs while we work and get a personal photo with them at the end
    • Able to purchase the truffles you dig out of the ground; we’ll weigh the harvest and demonstrate how truffles are washed and graded
    • Handy tips and tricks for getting the most use out of your truffle as well as how to pair truffle with food to create simple and delicious meals

Wonderful informative morning spent in the truffle paddock with our hosts Trish and Rainer. They expertly showcased the paddock to plate experience with their truffle hunting dogs Barry and Roxy finding the truffles to the digging process then back to their barn for a food tasting. The passion they have for their farm and animals was heart-warming.

This was an absolutely brilliant experience! We were lucky to happen to book in on a day with no other guests so had Tricia and Rainer’s full attention. The dogs Barry and Roxy sniffed out truffles while we walked behind them and got our hands dirty unearthing the truffles where they scratched the soil. It was fantastic to work so closely with the dogs and even dig out the truffles ourselves. We enjoyed it so much we even accompanied Tricia and Rainer to the Trufferie later that afternoon again when they were harvesting truffles for a commercial order! The truffle tasting was also excellent and we tried some truffle honey, truffle butter on toast, truffle cheese, soup, pana cotta and chocolate! Tricia had very kindly accommodated me being vegan and although I couldn’t try everything there was more than enough to appreciate the flavour. We ended up buying a small truffle ($2 per gram) that we plan to infuse into chocolate, macadamias, butter, salt and grate over a meal. I can’t recommend this experience enough. If you have even the slightest interest in fine food / new flavours / foraging you should try truffle hunting 😊

What an amazing day! The farm is absolutely lovely and the truffle hunt was interesting and fun! I ended up buying the truffles I dug up after they got washed and graded - very educational. Loved the animals, loved the snacks and loved the people. Wishing you all the best with your amazing business.

Fantastic experience! Was raining hard in the morning but the weather cleared up for the hunt. The hosts were so knowledgeable and the truffle hunting dogs were so smart! We even got to hang out with Truffle the Pig!
