The standout venue in a day of Hunter valley wine tastings. Pooles Rock is situated in a stunning little vineyard with sweeping views and a great balcony that takes full advantage of them. We did a tasting with the wonderful Allie - she was knowledgeable, friendly, funny and did an awesome job at describing the processes and differentiation of the wines and subtleties. Thank you Allie! We didn’t get to try their food but the wines were consistently great and will definitely keep an eye out for them when I’m next in a bottle shop. Worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Our first visit to the Hunter Valley and our first local wine tasting. What a fun and informative experience. Thank you so much to Lana, we had a blast. Your passion for all things wine related blew us away. Super interesting. You have turned us into alcoholics!!! Hahaha. Thank you for a fun afternoon.

We had the most wonderful tasting with Lana. She was the most delightful guide through the fine range of wines - knowledgable, warm, interesting and good fun. The setting is beautiful and we were able to take our time, talk about the different aspects of how each wine is created and appreciate the care taken to craft each vintage and respond to changing conditions. We highly recommend a tasting at Pooles Rock and if you're lucky Lana will be there to greet you!

It was a coincident opportunity to visit Pooles Rock as we got rejected by Audrey Wilkinson due to overwhelmed customers. We were directed to visit this which was just 5 min drive away. The host was super friendly and made us enjoy the very moment during the wine tasting. Appreciate that and encourage all of you to come for a visit.

The four of us spontaneously drove to Pooles Rock Winery from Newcastle for a quick wine tasting service last Sunday. We didn't have a booking and thought we'd try our luck before heading to our pre-arranged premium booking at Audrey Wilkinson. All we can say is WOW! The service we received from Ally was incredible. Not only were they kind, educational and attentive but they also explained the history and origin behind each of the wines. They also managed to explain the science behind wine making which was incredibly interesting (who knew there's so chemistry involved) It was a pleasure to hear their passion and understanding of each wine. On the topics of wine, the wines were to die for, offering a varied selection for everyone's palette; we chose the red wine service. The private room to the left was where we were seated which had a cosy fit-out (fireplace, couch and bar) adjacent to the beautiful dam/pond view. It truly was a privilege to be serviced by Ally and to have been treated with such care even without a booking! We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and most certainly will be back soon. Of course I walked away with a bottle of the Liqueur Shiraz 2019, It'd be a crime not to really... Ally is a true asset and made our overall experience unforgettable. Thank you!
