Hello! We are Explore Byron Bay
About

We invite you to join us on a special Aboriginal tour at Cape Byron, Bangalow or Broken Head. Our tours are guided by Delta Kay, an Arakwal Bundjalung woman who is passionate about sharing Aboriginal culture. During tours, guests can expect to hear about Aboriginal existence before colonisation, including how Arakwal people cared for and preserved the land. Delta also explains the devastating impact of settlement and displacement on her people and how her family eventually negotiated their Native Title. Delta teaches some Bundjalung language and provides information about local bush tucker, natural medicine, tools, weapons and artefacts. At the end of each tour, guests enjoy tasting a variety of delicious bush tucker foods and have nice cup of bush tea and a biscuit.

This tour is a must do in Byron Bay. We did the Banglow Bush Tour and enjoyed every minute of it. Delta May is an incredible story teller and made the tour very engaging from start to finish. She shared with us the various plants used by the Bundjalung people for food and medicine. We even got to try to finger limes, berries and other plant leaves. At the end of the tour we got a beautiful cup of tea made from the local leaves found along the creek. I would highly recommend this tour if you’re visiting Byron.

Spectacular scenery and Information that after 25 yrs of living in Byron was new to me! A fun, moving, brilliant day out, a must for every local to experience so you know the land better where you are living. Loved the Bush Food Tasting at the end and the heart felt presence of Delta, our guide, all day.

Delta's tours are legendary, you learn so much and finishing up with the delicious bush treats is a bonus. Learning about where you are on Country and the history of the place is so important. Do yourself a favour if you live in the Northern Rivers or are a visitor - take one of Delta's tours. Great for international guests also!

We had a session in November and found it a really interesting session. Delta told stories about her family, culture and nature and shared some bush tucker. Would highly recommend.

An exceptional tour. Delta Kay is a personable, warm, and friendly guide who shared her deep connection to country. Her knowledge made the experience both interesting and engaging. We sampled delicious bush tucker and tea made from native plants. Wildlife sightings included osprey, sharks, turtles, and rays. A memorable and enriching journey through nature's wonders!
