The Q Train has five dining carriages, and two bars. Each dining carriage offers a unique experience for The Q Train’s patrons. When booking, we ask that you choose which dining option you would like.

The most prestigious dining option on board The Q Train is the First Class Private Dining Car. Originally a first class sleeping car from Queensland’s famous Sunlander train, you will dine in your own private compartment. This intimate compartment, with seating for two, creates a unique, romantic atmosphere; ideal for that romantic treat, anniversary, birthday or special occasion.
There are fourteen compartments available on each train. First Class guests experience our delicious degustation menu, with matching drinks*.
*Drink matching is the process of pairing food dishes with wine/beer/mocktails to enhance the dining experience. In many cultures, wine and beer have had a long history of being staples at the dinner table and both their production, and the culinary traditions of a region, will have evolved together. The main concept behind pairings is that certain elements in both food and drink interact with each other, and thus finding the right combination of these elements will make the entire dining experience more enjoyable.
The Q Train will depart from Drysdale Railway Station, Drysdale, Victoria.

a month agoFirst Class for 2 - 2nd week of March 2024 My wife and I opted for the first class dinner evening experience as a romantic weekend getaway over the labour day long weekend. Overall, it was a nice experience - something different. The service was impeccable from the moment we stepped onto the platform. My wife was pregnant and they were very accommodating and thoughtful. We had time to roam, enjoyed a beverage before we were explained about the journey from Georgia - she was a wonderful hostess throughout our trip. We stopped on two platforms and had time to walk around. I had read the reviews about the food, however the quality and amount of food we received was nice, fresh and was complimented nicely with the drinks list. The views - it was a lot of peoples backyards and wetlands - but nice. We chose March and the night experience due to our situation and availability, I was aware that it might get dark early and I was right. The train left at 7, and it was dark by 830pm. If you are going to book after mid Feb for the night experience - keep this in mind. Overall a nice experience, however I do think that it is a bit pricey for the first class experience - it is solely due to the fact that you are dining on a moving train. 3 weeks agoBooked the 1st class dining with pairing wine, the 5 course menu with the pairing wine was an awesome idea. The food are all very good. We had a welcome wine once we arrived the venue. The waitress whom serve us all were top notch service. We will definitely will go again.

a month agoWhat an amazing experience. From arriving on the red carpet and getting your photos taken with your glass of champagne. To your 1st class private compartment, where we were waited on with a delicious five course meal. The train was amazing, as was the service, food and the accompanying drinks. I highly recommend taking the Q train. You won’t be disappointed.

2 months agoAn experience you must try! Beautiful carriage- we chose the first class option when is a great deal when you get a drink with every meal and on arrival. Food was good, drink pairings were lovely, free tea and coffee at the end. The staff went out of their way to make it an experience- letting us see the steam carriage and did a drive by so we could take videos. Definitely recommend

2 months agoAwesome 1st class experience. From the moment we arrived at the station the service was fantastic from all the staff. On board we were served by Georgia who did a great job, made us feel special and was helpful taking some photos for us, and explaining all the meals as they came to us. The food was simply delicious, as was the wine, beer and mocktail pairings that we chose. First class experience and would absolutely recommend
