Ran by amazing people, caring, passionate, local knowledge throughout. You get to explore a beautiful area of the world, walking through diverse forests, seeing wild animals in their natural environment was so special. Tour guide Michelle was incredible, sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm made the trip extra special.

Michelle is an absolute treasure of a tourguide. She knows the terrain like the palm of her hand and knows so much about the wildlife and plants and she is so genuinely interested in everything she talks about! The tours are very well-rounded and offer filling meals with local treats. Even as you're on the bus she explains some of the scenery and lets you in close with Mackay's surroundings and history. We did both the platypus tour and the sunrise with the wallabies tour with her and we only wish there were more tours because I would simply love to explore the whole area with her as a guide :)! Would seriously recommend doing the tours with them. Thank you for the great times and taking great pictures of us!

I highly recommend this tour. Michelle is not just an amazing guide but a sweet person. She made this whole experience amazing and I really appreciate it so much. We had the opportunity to see a lot of wallabies and take beautiful photos as well. Also, we had a couple of trails which were not challenging at all but offered amazing views and knowledge about the place (she knows the place as the palm of her hand!). Finally, we had a rewarding breakfast, all made with love by Michelle of course :).

Michelle was absolutely fantastic! She was super friendly and welcoming and super knowledgeable. Mackay is a hidden gem for sure ! 100% recommend to anyone considering.

What a wonderful hidden gem! My friend and I are so glad that our travel agent booked us in with Mackay Adventures, because we had a really special and memorable experience. Amanda was really lovely and we thought the transfer from the Greyhound to the lodge at crazy o’clock, with beds ready for us to catch some more sleep before our activities, were really thoughtful details which set the tone for a brilliant couple of days. We were very grateful for the transfer to Airlie as well. We did the platypus tour and the sunrise wallabies tour. Both tours took in absolutely beautiful scenery, fun short hikes and exciting encounters with cute, furry Aussie friends! Michelle was one of the best tour guides I’ve ever had the pleasure and privilege to enjoy tours with. She was so warm and knowledgable, a natural storyteller with a great sense of humour and an eye for an excellent photo! The thoughtfully planned tours were well-paced and really engaging. The accommodation at the lodge was very clean, comfortable and well-equipped. We enjoyed every single element of our Mackay Adventures experience and have been recommending it to everyone we’ve met along the rest of our tour of Queensland.
