Cactus Country is not open on Mondays and Tuesdays, but I rang to check and she allowed us to visit on the Tuesday! Great service! I love cactus plants and didn't want to miss this visit. Was totally amazed at the size of this place and the many different varieties on display in the garden. Some were huge! Others were fruiting! I don't think I have ever seen this many cactus! A truly unique experience! I wanted to buy a couple of the ones I had seen and was very disappointed when I seen the store. Poor selection and very over priced. They didn't have the ones I had seen in the garden and wanted. Buyers are also forced to buy larger more expensive specimens which may be more difficult to move and travel with. Not at all what I had expected from a specialized cactus retailer, especially after paying so much to visit the garden. Difficult to admit, but I had been really excited about the visit and enjoyed the garden but I actually left quite disappointed. Was it unreasonable to have high hopes of returning home with a new exciting cactus plant?

We had a great morning at Cactus Country. The garden was amazing years in the making with all kinds of Cactus on display. The cafe served great coffee, cactus cake and icecream with great menu for lunch. Colourful, welcoming plenty of time and space to roam.

If you're in search of a unique and immersive experience that offers more than just a meal, Cactus Country is a destination worth visiting. From the moment you step in, you're transported to a desert oasis brimming with a stunning variety of cacti that is both educational and visually arresting. The culinary experience complements the scenery, with a menu that showcases a delightful fusion of flavors, each dish crafted to reflect the theme of the venue. Whether you're indulging in their signature cactus cake or sipping on a prickly pear margarita, the taste is as memorable as the location. But what truly sets Cactus Country apart is the atmosphere. It's a place of discovery, where each turn introduces you to new species and each bite introduces you to new tastes. The staff are as warm as the sun that bathes their cacti, always ready to share stories or care tips for aspiring cactus growers. Overall, Cactus Country offers a feast for the senses and a getaway from the mundane, ensuring that each visit is a novel expedition. Whether you come for the flora, the food, or the sheer joy of something different, you'll leave with a sense of satisfaction and a camera full of photos.

There really aren’t enough superlatives. It was a positive experience right from the start. We were greeted by a charming Dutch lady who explained all the background we needed, gave us a map and sent us on our way. On the map was a QR code so you could download information as you went around. It was very clear right from the start that this was a labour of love. 4000+ different species of cactus and succulent. And with multiples of each, you start to get an idea of the work and attention to detail in setting it up … let alone the time needed to nurture some of the more mature plants. The walking is easy. I have a bit of a disability and thought I would be a bit of an embarrassment calling it quits early. And the other half has done an MCL (out for the season!). So neither of us had high hopes of getting around. But we needn’t have worried. Where there weren’t chairs, there were large rocks at just the right height for reversing a bottom onto. One disappointing thing - and this is against my fellow tourists, and not the venue - why oh why do some people feel the need to leave their mark somewhere? What sort of person goes to such an amazing place and carves their name into living things!!! I’m sure your name is very pretty, but it’s damned ugly carved into a plant and ruins it for other people. Not to mention how upsetting for the man who did all this hard work!! We finished the visit with a coffee and a piece of cactus cake. (Yes you heard correctly). Quite a unique flavour! We also bought a lovely little cactus garden home as a memento. Considering the time and expense that’s gone into its creation I was pleasantly surprised at how inexpensive the day was. Entry was VERY reasonable, as was my sweet little cactus garden. The coffee and cake was a bit more on the less-than-cheap side, but where else can you get cactus cake!?!?! Highly recommend Cactus Country. (PS we chose not to wear sombreros, but they do offer them for photo opportunities around the place.

"I had the most incredible experience visiting the cactus plantation! As soon as I walked in, I was struck by the sheer variety of cacti on display. The owners have curated an impressive collection of species from around the world, each one more fascinating than the last. The plantation is beautifully maintained, with winding paths that take you on a journey through the desert landscape. I was amazed by the vibrant colors and unique shapes of the cacti. What really stood out, though, was the tranquil atmosphere. The plantation feels like an oasis, a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I spent hours wandering through the gardens, taking in the sights and sounds of nature. Whether you're a cactus enthusiast, a nature lover, or just looking for a relaxing day out, this plantation is a must-visit. I left feeling inspired and rejuvenated, with a newfound appreciation for these incredible plants. Five stars isn't enough - I'd give it ten if I could!"
